Queens

Considered one of the more suburban boroughs of New York City, although it does have urban areas along with several business districts. In the 1940s Queens was center of Jazz populated by people such as Luis Armstrong, Count Basie, and Ella Fitzgerald. Presently, Western Queens is becoming an artistic focal point, partially due to P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center, one of the largest and oldest institutions in the US dedicated to contemporary art. Queens is also home to JFK Internal Airport, LaGuardia Airport, the New York Mets baseball team, the US Open tennis tournament, Flushing Meadows Park, Kaufman Astoria Studios, and Silvercup Studios.
